For the British teams, just Chelsea and Manchester City. Liverpool lost to Athletico Madrid, whilst Tottenham never really recovered from that battering at home by Bayern Munich, who are strong favourites. Also left in are Real Madrid who play Man City, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.
There are 4 remaining last 16 games to be played before the quarter-finals. The last 16 games will be played on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th August, before the quarter finals starting on Wednesday 12th August. They’ll be a quarter final game each night that week from Wednesday to Saturday so there’s plenty to watch!
Man City play Real Madrid on Friday 7th August, kick-off 8.00pm BST. If they make it through, they will play their quarter-final against either Lyon or Juventus on Saturday 15th August.
Chelsea are away at Bayern Munich on Saturday 8th August, kick-off 8.00pm BST. If they make it through, they will play their quarter final against either Napoli or Barcelona on Friday 14th August.
BT Sport has exclusive rights in the UK for the Champions League, renewed until 2024. Whilst some people don’t like their commentators, overall their coverage is excellent, with Gary Lineker fronting most of the last 16 action and some excellent European league experts as well as famous names like Rio Ferdinand and Glenn Hoddle.
You can watch the Champions League on your TV by getting BT Sport on BT TV, Virgin Media or Sky TV. Alternatively there are options to watch via the BT Sport app from BT, EE and other providers.
It really depends on things like your budget, whether you want to watch on your big TV and whether you’re looking for a short or long term subscription.
If you’re already with Sky TV, BT broadband or Virgin Media and in the middle of your contract, you can add it to your subscription by giving them a call. You’ll need to pay extra and usually need to extend your contract, but it’s the quickest and easiest way to do it.
If you’re not with any of those providers, or you’ve finished your initial contract, it’s time to look for the best deal. Our unique package finder can help you find the best TV and broadband package, based on the programmes and channels you want to watch. You can start searching here.
Alternatively, if you’re just looking to grab a great deal, you can order straightaway by looking at our brand new offers section on our home page or via the link below
Last year BT finally succumbed and offered monthly passes for BT Sport. This is for the BT Sport app, but can be used on a variety of devices to get it onto your big screen, including;
– Chromecast
– Xbox
– A number of recent Smart TV’s including LG & Samsung
It costs £25 per month for a rolling monthly subscription. You can order a BT Sport Monthly Pass from BT Sport here.
Getting a free trial is always a winner! With BT Sport, given the huge cost of the TV rights there aren’t many around. However, if you’re an EE Mobile subscriber, or thinking about becoming one, your luck may be in. EE Pay Monthly Max customers can get access to the BT Sport App included in their contract, so they can watch on their mobile for free. Depending on your contract, they’ll be a charge either after 6 months or when you renew, but it’s free until then. Just remember this only covers the App, so you can only watch on your mobile or tablet, not your big screen.
SwitchTV.co.uk’s unique package finder will allow you to find a package for the programmes you want to watch at the right price, using the latest deals available on the market.
Simply enter ‘champions league’ and any other important programmes and channels into our package finder, along with your home postcode and we’ll do the rest! It’s free so why not give it a try!
