Live football is back! How and where you can watch the Bundesliga live

Finally live football is returning to our screens for the weekend of 16-17th May. OK, there are no fans allowed at the games, but it’s still top flight, live football. Amazing right? So, what’s happening in the German League and where can you watch it? Switch TV is here to help…

It’s back and it’s live!

What’s happening in the Bundesliga?

Not a huge surprise here, Bayern Munich are currently topping the table, but they’re only 4 points clear of Jurgen Klopp’s old team Borussia Dortmund, and then just 2 further points cover Red-Bull Leipzig and Borussia Mönchengladbach. There’s still 9 games to go, so anything can happen…

Who are the big stars to look out for?

Well, if you haven’t seen much German football before, you’re in for a bit of a treat, including some British talent too.

Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski – goal machine

Top of the list comes Robert Lewandowski, the Polish goal machine who has already scored a staggering 30 goals this season in all competitions for the league leaders, Bayern Munich.

Next up is Jadon Sancho – you’ve heard of him right? An England midfielder plying his trade abroad, sadly a rare commodity these days. The youngster is doing an awesome job blitzing defences for Borussia Dortmund.

Timo Werner is a German playing for Red Bull Leipzig, who themselves are a bright-burning star in the Bundesliga, with Werner leading the line up front. This season he’s already bagged 21 goals and will be going for more before the season is out.

So where can I watch the action?

BT Sport have had the Bundesliga rights since 2013 and recently extended them to the end of the 2020/2021 season. With access to 4 channels plus red button options, they often show 3-4 live games per weekend, so there’s plenty to look forward to.

They’ve got a number of great pundits including former Bayern Munich player Owen Hargreaves and Rafael Honigstein, who also works for The Guardian and the German paper Süddeutsche Zeitung.

Of course on the roster for BT Sport are the likes of Jake Humphrey and Lynsey Hipgrave, who normally cover Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup games, but with those likely to be on hold until at least June, may well be covering the Bundesliga in the short term.

BT Sport’s Jake Humphrey – will he be drafted in to present Bundesliga games while we wait for the Premier League to restart?

And where can I find a great deal for BT Sport and how can I watch it?

Glad you asked! That’s where we’re hear to help. There are plenty of ways you can watch BT Sport, ranging from a monthly pass on your smartphone, tablet or XBox, right the way through to a fully fledged broadband and TV pack from BT or Virgin Media.
