What is Britbox?

Britbox is a collaboration between the BBC and ITV.  It is a streaming service which brings you the biggest British boxsets from both.

As a streaming service the TV programmes are delivered through your internet or mobile connection “on demand”.  More information on how this works can be found here.

It is contract free and features all the award winning and most talked about British dramas, comedies, film and documentaries from the BBC and ITV.  There will also be new exclusive content created alongside content from channel 4 and Channel 5.

The creation of this service is seen as a direct challenge within the streaming market and is likely to result in ITV and BBC removing their content from rival streaming companies like Netflix.  Both broadcasters have stated that the service will not affect their current catch up services (iplayer and hub) and new shows are likely to move onto Britbox once they have been available on catch up.  The content will also be available ad-free for uninterrupted viewing.

What shows are on Britbox?

Britbox has exclusive brand-new shows as well as exclusive shows you may have missed.  A brand-new series of the satirical Spitting Image has new shows every week.  There are unmissable classics such as Broadchurch, Mr Selfridge and Doc Martin plus films, comedies and reality TV.  The library is vast!
